New for 2008
You NEED to be at Many Point this Summer!Even though you may have camped at Many Point before, we have enough programs and new ideas planned that 2008 will feel like your first summer camp again. Our plans include improvements to advancement offerings, troop programming, and older Scout opportunities.
Check out the 2008 New Things power point presentation shown to leaders at the March orientation. Please use it to help with your promotions in your troop or crew.
Advancement
Photography Merit Badge – Capture the beauty of Many Point and earn a new badge.
Senior Patrol Leaders Corps – SPLs from each troop will come together for an hour each day for this special training opportunity. Utilize strategies to make your troop’s week as successful as possible. SPLs will also earn a unique merit badge, plan major camp-wide events and earn special recognition.
Troop Programming
Geocaching – As a troop, learn the fundamentals of using a GPS before setting out to find the caches (hidden objects) of our course or use your creativity to create your own.
Disc Golf – You can be the first to beat a par by perfecting your throws around trees and other objects on our brand new course.
Finger Printing Merit Badge – Learn the skills of capturing finger prints and earn advancement during this new troop activity.
Many Point Website – Our site has been redeveloped to include program descriptions, up to date news and resources for your troop. Check us out at www.manypoint.org.
Menu Improvements – All sub camps will see changes to our menu based on feedback from 2007 Adult Leader Feedback Forms.
Older Scout Opportunities (8th grade & older)
Challenge Outpost Improvements – New activities to challenge your group’s physical and mental fitness
Shooting Sports Outpost – Older Scouts will test their accuracy with a unique set of projectiles. Among others, shooting equipment could include black powder rifles, throwing spears, boomerangs and blow darts.
All Things Weeks – Week-long programs where Scouts earn unique advancement and have experiences entirely related to the theme. Last year, Scouts in the Aquatics program earned motor boating merit badge, BSA Lifeguard, Sail boarding and Kayaking BSA and took an overnight canoe trip. Theme options for 2008 could include Aquatics, Emergency Response & SCUBA.
Scouts in these programs will come to camp as individuals and we will provide the staff to lead them.
Like all activities at Many Point, we are confident that the above programs will achieve our chief objective of creating experiences to build your troop to be stronger while building the character and confidence of each of your individual Scouts.
